Delinquencies Rise on Mortgage-Backed Securities

After slowing for most of 2005, commercial backed securities delinquencies are again climbing. This appears to be a result of dealing with the aftermath of hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma.
In October 2005, the delinquency rate on fixed rate commercial mortgage-back securities increased for the first time in eleven months. According to RBS Greenwich Capital, the total amount of commercial mortgage-backed securities outstanding is estimated at $576 billion.
