Is a Tenant Bill of Rights the Answer?

Recent media attention on the state of some decrepit apartment properties has rightly raised the concerns of many officials. The current proposed solutions, ranging from mandatory inspections to a residents’ bill of rights, have the potential of negatively impacting all apartment owners and other industry professionals. Additionally, these proposed solutions appear to be generating more questions which have not been addressed.
“Bill of rights not enough to protect tenants” explores the negative impact that mandatory inspections would have on both the landlords and the tenants. The article leaves us asking, is there a better solution to this problem?
