Possible

The Las Vegas Business Press is reporting that city officials are discussing the possibility of a “Tourism Improvement District” on downtown’s 61-acre Union Park site. If instituted, it would allow business construction to be financed by sales tax revenue.
City officials hope to increase current levels of retail development and see the tax break as one avenue for accomplishing this. Similiar tourism districts have already been established in Reno and Sparks. Currently 1,700-room hotel rooms are planned for the Union Park site which would likely also include two medium-sized hotels and one boutique property.
